Novapta is dedicated to improving society by improving education.
We create powerful yet simple tools that enable instructors to use
research validated pedagogical techniques in their class-rooms.
Pedagogy driven products, by teachers, for teachers. Our classroom experience and education research background
allow us to assess the quality of new learning ideas on the spot.
Need your idea developed quickly? Our track record demonstrates we are the right partner for both fast and quality production.
Successful educational products need a unique combination of skills. Our team can simultaneously leverage expertise in pedagogy,
creative design, and IT development to help get your idea from abstraction to completion.
We build pedagogy driven products to use in our own classrooms. Novapta has the skills necessary to do rapid
development, and we also have the classroom experience and education research background to assess the use of
these products. As leaders in the field of Physics Education Research, working with a strong group of academic
colleagues at the University of Illinois and elsewhere, we are uniquely positioned to verify that our products
provide the best possible experience for both students and instructors. As assessment data and new ideas are
received, new features are added to our software on a weekly deployment cycle that includes hundreds of automated
unit tests to ensure a seamless and error free experience for our users.
Novapta was founded in 2011 by four physicists whose expertise spans several research fields as well as software and hardware design.
Tim Stelzer and Mats Selen combine 35 years of academic experience as physics professors at the University of Illinois, and lead product
development. Michel Herquet is founder of Novapta’s technical partner, B12 Consulting, and leads the Novapta back-end software group.
With a Ph.D. in Physics Education Research and formidable skills in graphic design and programming, Michael Scott is Novapta’s front-end architect.
